The Importance Of Your Morning Routine

Mar 30, 2020 | Building a Better You

I have been noticing that my emotional tank has been tapped out by about 3 or 3:30 every day. This is a shared experience. In recent days I’ve heard many friends and colleagues saying the same thing.

Why is this phenomenon happening?

It might have something to do with the fact that our routines have been turned upside down.

Now more than ever, we need to re-establish/ protect our routines.

In my latest YouTube video I share the importance of a solid morning routine (aka….a series of stacked habits) to fuel a healthy day.

How have you seen your routines upended?

The more we can stack up life-giving routines into habits, the healthier we will be.

The science works like this: We only have enough decision-making power for each day. Think of it like a battery. Our battery will run out after a while. (like at 3 pm)

So…

the more we can turn our daily actions into habits, the less we will have to think about them.

This will leave more “battery life” for the necessary decisions we will HAVE to make. This is why a morning routine is so vital.

When habits become solidified, the brain stops fully participating in decision making. When you brush your teeth first thing in the morning, for example, you don’t have to think about it, right?

The less we have to engage the brain early on, the more brainpower we will have later on.

So, establish your morning routine. Think of it as stacked habits.

Bonus: if your morning routine (tacked habits) is fuel for your brain, you can actually add to the “battery level” and hit the ground running fueled for the day ahead.

I want you to listen into my conversation that’s going on in my head.

We are rewarded publicly for what we do, privately.

Two of the most productive seasons of my life have happened because something I do that no one really knows that I do, including some of the people that are closest to me.

It’s my morning routine.

I haven’t always been faithful with this, but when I have, it’s been the most productive and the most creative for me. I refer to it as SPARKS it’s an acronym

S is solitude or silence

P –planning the day or praying for my day,

A –affirmation…speaking a word of confidence about my day. And about what I want to accomplish in the day.

R  is for running or exercising.

K –knowledge. Learn something. Read something. And,

S — scribe, write in a journal.o

One of the most productive times in my life came when I wrote every morning in my scribe time, which actually ended up becoming my book, Fear Not, Dream Big & Execute.

And the other most productive time is the time I’m in right now. I’m practicing mindfulness during the first S –solitude. Using a headspace app. No one sees this and it would be easy to skip it. And some mornings it’s been easy to skip it. But, when I actually do it, It produces. It’s effective.

And, as a result of that, there have been some public acknowledgments of my work. My book has been nominated for an award. The book has launched my business, the Dream Accelerator.

We’re helping people accomplish their dreams.

So, I’d like to challenge you with this thought today.

What are you doing privately that no one else is going to see? …that is going to get rewards for you, acknowledgement for you publicly.

To help you with that, I’d like to give you a free resource or resource to help you establish a morning routine of your own.

If you don’t have one, or if it’s kind of spotty and kind of intermittent, maybe this will help you establish it more as a habit, and a foundation for success in your journey.

Here is the to this resource, https://info.jeffmeyer.org/morning

I encourage you to check it out, download the PDF. And also I’ve got a trackable resource, a PDF so you can actually track your daily routine with this morning routine. It’s my gift to you to help you produce what you want to produce to make you effective.
